Our wedding ceremony will be held at 5 pm, June 27, 2009 at the Sanctuary of St. John’s Presbyterian Church at 2727 College Avenue, Berkeley, California. (The two nearest cross streets are Stuart and Derby.) Parking is available on the side streets, as well as a lot that is under the church itself. The Sanctuary, built in 1975, shares many artistic and historical connections to the original 1910 Sanctuary designed by Julia Morgan (now the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts). View Larger Map For those of you who are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Emeryville, here are driving directions that avoid Interstate 80 altogether. Head north on Frontage Road - you should be parallel to the freeway. Go 0.7 miles and look for the sign marking Ashby. Take that sharp right turn where directed, you should be crossing the freeway. Stay on Ashby for 2.1 miles and turn left at Telegraph. Drive for 0.4 miles, turn right at Derby. Drive for 0.3 miles and turn right at College, the church is at that intersection.
The wedding reception will be held immediately afterwards in the Great Hall of the Bancroft Hotel at 2680 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, California - this is seven blocks away from the ceremony. From the church, head north along College Avenue until it terminates at Bancroft Avenue. Turn left on Bancroft; the hotel is the 2nd building on the left, between the UC Berkeley Museum of Art and the corner cafe. There is limited parking available directly at the hotel, but public parking is also available in a lot across the street from the hotel. The hotel itself is a National Landmark designed by Walter T. Steilberg in 1928 and is a wonderful example of the Arts and Crafts style in architecture. View Larger Map |
